Great news!

As the title says, Sheri will be returning to lend her voice to Montclair. Just like book one, this will be an audible exclusive, if only because they make it so quick and easy for self-published authors. In the future I will explore other distribution avenues, but for now...the more time I can dedicate to writing the better.

I'm pretty sure the Audiobook will be live in October, barring any unforeseen difficulties.

Upcoming Changes

Happy Saturday,

I have some good news to share. Effective this month, the Pendant Edition and First Print Edition will be sunset, in favor of a new 2nd Edition. The new cover combines the First Print Raven that everyone loves and the photographic based style of The Pendant Edition & Montclair. The second edition includes all of the formatting upgrades and POV headers from the pendant, as well as the new two page map from Montclair, and will serve as the standard edition of Thorns, Feathers & Bones. This will remove confusion for new readers coming from Montclair, and bring book one into the franchise standard as far as formatting and appearance. It is my goal to keep your bookshelves beautiful and consistent, and I take my duty very seriously lol

If you own the First Print or the Pendant, congratulations, you now have a collectors item. Please bring them if you ever come to see me at a con for some free OG Club merch haha

What a crazy two weeks it has been.

Happily Indie After 2026 : Unfortunately, due to things out of my control I will not be able to attend. Stay tuned for new BookCon/ComicCon dates for 2027, likely in the Nashville/Knoxville area or surrounding states. I may look to try to get into MegaCon (orlando) or DragonCon (ATL) in the coming years....but I've got writing to do first. Once BWAS is released, I can take a breather and focus on meeting you all.

Montclair : Is finally here! Publishing/Distributor nonsense aside (the reason for the marketing silence), you can now order physical copies from the Zon, with other retailers coming soon. MTC will also be available on Kindle Unlimited 7.31.26 for a limited time before being pushed digitally everywhere. This release has been one entire #lessonsLearned , but..this is how we grow.

I am biting my nails off waiting for your feedback and reviews! Meanwhile, The Thorns Saga presses on:

What's next for 2026:

1. After you pick your mouths up off the floor from the conclusion of MTC... expect the reveal of Novella #2, set 300 years before Book one, ending ... you guessed it... squarely in Blood, Wine and Steel. So far I'm planning on a Sept./Oct. date for that, with a book release still in the spring of 2027. Writing is going exceptionally well, I am finally in the heads of this cast and they are brilliant.

To put it into perspective. This novella is to TFAB what House of the Dragon and Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is to GOT... except on a grander scale. It also is TECHNICALLY going to be a short novel, but for branding reasons we'll keep calling it a Novella ;)

2.Clutch those First Print copies and Pendant editions of TFAB... I will be sunsetting those editions this year, in favor of a Franchise version of the original cover .... to speak like @Tales.With.Atticus .... "Ya'll , its beautiful." lol .The cover will follow the same format and photographic styling of Montclair, both inside and out, while retaining everything that made the original cover standout.

Why? To simplify entry for new readers en-masse, to ensure your bookshelves stay uniform and sexy, and to initiate you into a special First Edition club. There are about 300+ of you out there..so one day...those books may be worth something hehe.

Which leads to :

3.I'm finally moving forward... with setting up a Special Drop portal where I can sell signed copies/limited run merch. (Sprayed Edges/Black versions?). I will have this online later this year.

4. Thinking about writing some behind-the-scenes blogs about the books and characters...starting next month.

I feel it in the air...something major is coming for this series....

12 Days from Launch

Happy Sunday,

And now, we wait...

This is arguably the worst part of being an author.... spending weeks, months, years waiting.... on vendors and automated processes that seem to take one eternity longer than the writing process itself. Though... I suppose it could be worse. In twelve days Montclair will be released to the wild, which gives rise to some anxiety if I am to be honest. Only because it's smaller project, tighter focus and pov, and a slightly different tone than book one. I hope that it is well received/appreciate the break in heaviness that TFAB held. I could have spent 600 pages in the minds of this cast of three, but today 310 will have to do. Each novella should add to the world, not compete with it...so there is some "strategery" behind the length. Can't wait for your reviews/feedback.

It's new release time!

Montclair, officially releases 07.31.26, just one week shy of the year anniversary of Thorns, Feathers & Bones! Can you believe it?

I cannot.

About Montclair from an author perspective:

The world of Thorns is a massive one, filled with unique stories and perspectives that could not possibly be contained in four books (even Sanderson sized ones). The easily solution, would be to expand the main series into more books, however, I feel doing so would water down the main arc and make it harder for new readers to approach the world.

The worst thing any story can do, is not know when to take the curtain call.

And so... the idea for the novella's were born.

Currently I have four planned, bringing the series to eight books in total once completed. The first two will be approached as standalone but ending in a collision course with the main series, the last two will explore themes/concepts/characters introduced in BWAS,MTC (Montclair) & Novella 2. Each novella will carry a different genre or theme that bleeds into epic/high fantasy. Doing so will keep the storytelling experience fresh, while allowing me to stretch my wings as an author without getting distracted by an unrelated project or becoming creatively bored (Not that any of these characters would allow that to happen).

What's next?

Novella 1 (MTC): July 31st 2026

Novella 2: Spring 2027

Book 2 (BWAS): Winter 2027

Novella 3: Spring 2028

That is as far as I'm comfortable in committing to for now... but you can essentially count on an annual AWF release. Currently I am of the understanding that book 4 will have the longest gap, if only because I want to stick the landing. I wouldn't mind focusing on nothing but book four (likely the largest in the series) for a solid year, with the goal to have the series done by 2030.

Where do we go after Book 4 of the main series?

Without spoiling anything. Anywhere and everywhere.... for the characters who survive it. ;)

As of writing this, my first inclination is to write more Montclair. The characters demand it, and I am but their humble servant :D But already the characters of Novella 2 intrigue me...and because of certain things...it opens up a world of possibility separate from the main series (you'll see).

But don't worry, there will always be Thorns if I have anything to say about it. The novella experience was really amazing...easy to execute...focused..directed...no balancing issues to worry about...etc..etc. so perhaps Thorns lives in the novella realm until a cast screams loud enough for their own new 3 book series or something? idk...There are so many options its hard to pick...let alone at this stage.

Elarion's age allows for amazing pre-TFAB material, but I fear Elven culture has been beaten into mediocrity and is so oversaturated, that they do not carry the wonder we once held for them.

There is one story line/concept I would LOVE to do...but I need to work it out more. Novella3 + Book 3 would be the natural jumping point for it ....hmmmm

You're rambling, what about MTC?

Right...here is the official story blurb:

This story is written with a more focused lens then the breathy atmospheric TFAB. I compare it to going to your cousins house. Things are a placed a little differently, but you still feel at home there. It was so refreshing to write, stepping out of the minds of the grief and regret laden characters of book one, but there is light at the end of the tunnel for (some of) them, which makes me more anxious and excited to continue writing BWAS.

But first, I have to write Novella 2, which have already mapped out and started writing (I took a break to write this blog update actually).

Anyway....I'm excited for the reactions and feedback to MTC! Hopefully, be the end of the third prologue (sorry about those lol) , I will have maintained your trust and exceeded your expectations.

Late night Updates

Hey all,

I'm working on giving some TLC to the website and expanding it in some ways. Stay tuned for more features and regular blog updates.

Novella 1:

The first novella is coming along extremely well, and I am already sending chapters to Bonnie, my editor. This book introduces three new characters in an unexplored kingdom within Thorns, Feathers & Bones, and it ends by tying directly into the events of Book 2, Blood, Wine & Steel.

These characters are incredible and are already fighting for their place among my favorites. This story is tightly focused, with a pace that moves without feeling like we're rushing. It will serve as a great entry point into TFAB for new readers, and a deeply rewarding adventure for those returning to the world...... especially those with attentive ears and watchful eyes ;)

The reveal trailer is ready to go and will be released this month in May. I have not decided on the exact date yet, but it is awesome.

Blood, Wine & Steel:

Still writing, albeit a bit slower because of the novella, but we are on track. I would even say potentially ahead of schedule for next year’s release. I am not quite ready to share much beyond this, but the cast from Book One returns as the world continues to change, in part due to Reh’gara dropping the veil. I'll share more deets in the future..but it is crazy from the first page.

There is something I am introducing in Book Two that feels foundational to the genre, but is presented in a very new and exciting way that will explode in book 3. I think you are going to love it!

Novella 2: It will pick up directly from Blood, Wine & Steel and lead into Book 3. Novella 4 will do the same for Book 4. The goal with these novellas is to explore existing concepts and stories, or introduce new ones, through a more focused lens with a smaller cast. I am keeping them to two or three points of view at most.

I cannot give much away yet, but the first novella explores concepts from Book One that I wish I had more time to dive into in TFAB...but I didn't want to release a 1200 page book :)

MISC: All of the novella covers are already completed and hanging on my wall as metal posters. So when I start doing interviews, see what you can peek :D

I cannot wait to show you. You're going to geek at all of them.

Four years and three re-writes later, who would have thought my futzing around with an idea in Word, would turn into a published 684 page, 240,000+ (give or take) word novel. Whelp...time to do it again. TFAB 2, is officially in the works... three chapter down... eighty something to go I'm sure.
